Experience Our Vibrant Cajun & Creole Culture

Cajun and Creole culture blossomed in St. Martin Parish where the “work hard and play hard” attitude has been embraced by generations of residents. The passion and stories of the area’s residents are best told through the multitude of festivals, music, performing arts, museums and artwork.

Festivals of St. Martin Parish center around live music and the finest Cajun food you’ll ever eat. No matter the size, each festival brings the community together to celebrate the joy of living and to have a good time. The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, for example, is famously known for amazing Cajun musicians, more than 30 bands and nonstop music and dancing for three days.

For a quieter way to enjoy our culture, visit our history museums. The Acadian Memorial Museum, for example, shares the story of the Acadian people through rich murals and artwork, an audio tour and memorial garden. The museums in St. Martin Parish offer deeper looks into the history and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of its residents. Educational programs, tours and demonstrations are available at many museums for students and young learners.
